Nature's Paradise: A 2-Day Itinerary for Exploring Munnar's Beauty

Munnar, situated in the Western Ghats mountain range of Kerala, is a popular hill station known for its tea plantations, scenic views, and pleasant weather. With a range of attractions, including waterfalls, wildlife sanctuaries, and viewpoints, Munnar is a perfect getaway for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts alike.


Day 1:

  • 9:00 am: Start your day with a visit to the Eravikulam National Park, which opens at this time. It's a 30-minute drive from the town center.

  • 12:00 pm: After exploring the park, head to the nearby Tea Museum, which opens at noon. Learn about the history of tea cultivation in the region and enjoy some tea tasting.

  • 2:00 pm: Have lunch at a local restaurant in Munnar town.

  • 3:00 pm: Next, visit the Mattupetty Dam, which opens at this time. Take a boat ride on the serene lake and enjoy the breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.

  • 5:00 pm: Visit the Echo Point, which is a 15-minute drive from Mattupetty Dam. Shout out your name and hear it reverberate across the valley.

  • 6:30 pm: Finally, end your day by watching the sunset at the Pothamedu Viewpoint, which closes at 7:00 pm. Admire the panoramic views of the rolling hills and tea plantations.

Day 2:

  • 6:00 am: Wake up early and head to the Top Station, which is a 2-hour drive from Munnar town. It opens at 6:00 am, and you can witness the stunning sunrise over the Western Ghats from this viewpoint.

  • 9:00 am: On your way back, stop at the Kundala Lake and take a pedal boat ride. The lake opens at 9:00 am.

  • 11:00 am: Visit the Anamudi Peak, which is the highest peak in South India, and is located within the Eravikulam National Park. It opens at 11:00 am.

  • 1:00 pm: Have lunch at a local restaurant in Munnar town.

  • 2:00 pm: After lunch, visit the Tea Gardens in Kolukkumalai, which is a 2-hour drive from Munnar town. You can witness the tea-making process and enjoy a tea-tasting session.

  • 4:00 pm: On your way back, visit the picturesque Attukad Waterfalls, which closes at 6:00 pm. Enjoy the cool breeze and take in the stunning views of the waterfall.

  • 7:00 pm: End your day by having dinner at a local restaurant in Munnar town.
